International Art Space (IAS) is an internationally recognised leader in the field of contemporary art and community engagement. With over seventeen years experience, IAS has developed a unique and ambitious program focused on engaging with communities separated by cultural, social, economic, ethnic or geographical distances, and connecting them with international and Australian artists. IAS aims to provide artists with varied and challenging opportunities that diversify their life experience so that Australian culture, in its many forms, is reflected in the contemporary arts.
There are many ways, big and small, to support spaced.
The spaced donor program is centered on our unique identity as a recurring event of context-responsive art that connects regional and remote locations with contemporary art. Our program comprises artist residencies, exhibitions, public and school programs, mentoring, publishing and networking.
$5,000 contributes to supporting an Artist-in-Residency project; from the artist’s travel to Australia or the Nordic region, accommodation and living expenses, materials and production budget, and creation of their work for inclusion in two major exhibitions in Perth and the Nordic region.
$1,000 enables us to implement our Regional Mentorship and Education Program in one of the participating communities. This involves the part-time employment of a local resident or young person interested in gaining and/or developing their professional experience in arts management and administration by working closely with the artist-in-residence. Spaced staff work closely with this individual, mentoring them throughout the residency while they work with the artist to assist in the research and development of their work.
$500 provides an opportunity to support the presentation of a local exhibition of new work or event produced by one of our artists during their residency.
All donations help us achieve our key objective, which is to increase audience interest and engagement with contemporary cultural production and Western Australian life.
Donations to International Art Space (spaced) of $2 or more are tax deductible in Australia.
